Dow India brings quality benchmark to crop-nutrition; launches NUTRIBUILD™

Mumbai, India - August 4, 2016

  • Chelated and Silicon variants for addressing the micro-nutrient deficiency in crops and plants
  • Addresses needs of the end to end value chain to bring consistency in quality and pricing

Dow Chemical International Pvt. Ltd. (Dow India) has launched its new product for soil enrichment, NUTRIBUILD™, today. NUTRIBUILD™ will be available as a chelated fertilizer mix for Standard Micronutrients as well as non-Chelated Silicon micronutrient in Maharashtra, starting today. Setting a benchmark in quality, NUTRIBUILD™ will be one of the first products in India to provide all critical micro-nutrients under one umbrella.

Micronutrients are elements essential for plant nutrition and are required in very small (micro) quantities for healthy plant growth. These are Zinc (Zn), Iron (Fe), Boron (B), Copper (Cu), Manganese (Mn), Molybdenum (Mo) and Silicon (Si). However, continuous crop cultivation over the years and degradation due to physical factors, results in depletion of micronutrients, affecting the productivity of soil. This leads to deficiency in crops and lowers crop quality and yield.

NUTRIBUILD™ promises to make micronutrients available in prescribed grades in standard as well as mix micro-nutrient forms. The company’s chelated micronutrients ensure that the products need to be administered in the lowest possible dosage and deliver visible results in 48-72 hours. While the chelated products are priced higher than the non-chelated ones, their end-cost of application is lower per hectare as over 90 percent of the nutrients are absorbed by the plant when administered in chelated form and there is minimal wastage.

Commenting at the launch, Pramod Deo, Head of Business Development for Dow India said, “The eminence of delivering micro-nutrients through crops and the need to scale awareness about it within the farming community can be validated by the thrust of government initiated schemes. Recently PM Narendra Modi discussed the importance of ‘Swasth Dhara, Khet Hara’ and launched ‘Soil-Health Card’ scheme. As technological partners to the food-security goals of India, we are optimistic of the impact and value that NUTRIBUILD™ can deliver.”

He further added, “The market for agricultural micronutrients is growing at a CAGR of 15 percent per annum. Chelated micronutrients, represent 7% of total global market by volume and are growing faster than non-chelated ones. Through backward integration, Dow India will be one of the few companies to address the end to end value chain in mirco-nutrients market, thereby bringing consistency to quality as well as pricing.”Launched in Maharashtra, the product replenishes micronutrients in Fruits, Vegetables and crops including Sugarcane, Paddy and Cotton.

Dow India has conceived an Innovative packaging for the product which has a multilayer layer aluminium foil (moisture resistance) and zip-lock pouch (for multiple uses). This ensures optimum product to pack ratio and minimizes wastage as it enables every drop of the product to be consumed.

A new product from company’s stable in India, NUTRIBUILD™ will be launched in a phase-wise manner across country, over the next few years, starting with Maharashtra in 2015.
