Dow India among Top 30 Gold Employer’s in India Workplace Equality Index (IWEI) Report 2022

Dow tradeshow boothMumbai, January 11, 2023: This is a moment of PRIDE for Dow Chemical International Pvt. Ltd. (Dow India) for being recognized as the Gold Employer for the third time in a row, in the India Workplace Equality Index (IWEI) 2022 report. Dow India has been recognized for incorporating LGBT+ inclusive practices into company policy, recruiting, and external communication, indicating a long-term and comprehensive commitment to LGBT+ Inclusion. They are positioned in the top 30 with eminent brands from 105 other participants.

With Inclusion as a strategic pillar for Dow, it forms a core part of the induction process for recruits, upskilling and sensitizing the existing workforce.

India chapter for GLAD Employee Resource Group (ERG) has taken impactful steps in the past few years in embedding LGBTQ+ inclusion at Dow. Some key steps include awareness, sensitization sessions and collaborations with NGO partners and internally through volunteerism. They are successful in hiring and retaining employees and training them through required skill-building programs, including internships. They continue to set great examples in terms of ID&E.

Commenting on the occasion, CEO and Country President Mr. Chandrakant Nayak iterated, “Dow India is proud of its long-standing inclusive practices; we practice inclusivity and strive to create a diverse, fair environment. We imagined better through our initiatives, policies, and guidelines toward a more meaningful and cohesive work culture. The third consecutive win as Gold Employer in India Workplace Equality Index is a testament to our continuous growth and Dow India becoming synonymous with Inclusion.”

The India Workplace Equality Index (IWEI) is India’s only benchmarking tool for organizations to measure their progress on LGBT+ inclusion. The IWEI follows in the footsteps of Stonewall’s UK WEI. It has been used by employers over the last 15 years to assess their achievements and progress on LGBT+ workplace equality in the UK. Keshav Suri Foundation, Pride Circle and Stonewall have been working closely over the last 3 years to adapt the UK WEI and bring it to life in the Indian context.
