Inclusion and Diversity takes centre-stage at Dow India

Company opens deliberations relevant to multiple Employee Resource Group (ERG) to drive a culture of Inclusion, beyond diversity

MUMBAI, India. - October 24, 2018 - Dow India showcased its commitment to building an all-inclusive, diverse work culture by celebrating a “Inclusion and Diversity’ (I&D) week in the country. A series of events addressing diversity across gender, age, nationality, race and sexual orientation were hosted at all Dow India offices. Through the week-long activities Dow India recognized the work done by five key employee resource groups (ERGs) - Disability Employee Network (DEN), Asian Diversity Network (ADN), Women Employee Network (IWIN), Gay, Lesbian and Allies (GLAD) and Young Innovators Group (RISE). Guided by internal and external advisors, the ERG’s prioritised their strategies for the coming year.

The week saw participation by Alveda Williams (Corporate Director for Inclusion) and Peter Marshall (Director, Dow Logistics Sadara Interface and EMEAI GLAD sponsor) along with all the senior leadership of Dow India. The company engaged its employees through off-beat activities like Nature Trek, Interactive Session with ‘Dharavi Girl Coders’ Group and a panel discussion that brought forth family members of Dow India employees highlighting how the organization is providing a platform for them to grow professionally and personally.

Inclusion & Diversity is part of the company’s business strategy with the governance structure, vision statement, key performance indicators (KPIs), areas of focus and measures in place for an effective, sustainable strategy implementation and sustained performance.

The ERG’s at Dow are active business networks led and operated by employees of the organization to boost inclusion, sensitize employees, provide career guidance and act as sounding boards for employees. Each ERG is sponsored by a global leader of the organization and is dedicated towards one goal of creating an ‘all inclusive’ workplace. At Dow India, ERGs form an integral and inevitable component of the Inclusion and Diversity strategy that enable professional development of individuals through mentorship and networking opportunities.
